About Us

Welcome to Mosswood Gardens, established in 2006.  Owned and operated by John and Heidi Stroh, our goal is to offer our local and visiting clientele with the finest of mature, unusual perennials, and the most exciting varieties of improved annuals.  Like our vast collection of flowering perennials, our unique hand-combined hanging basket arrangements and combination planters are always grown by us on-site.

By showcasing our amazing selection of bedding plants in a tranquil, natural setting, surrounded by our own test gardens, we provide our clients with the unique opportunity to observe how different cultivars perform at maturity, or when paired with unusual accents.  Dedicated to helping our customers to make informed decisions, our knowledgeable staff takes special pride in being available to discuss individual plant varieties, plant care and culture, gardening techniques, and disease and pest control.  In addition to bringing our perennials and annuals to area farmers markets, we also offer landscape plans and designs and work with our customers to develop low-maintenance gardens that are specific to their properties and preferences.

Our year-round gift shop features an eclectic variety of fine handmade gifts from around the world.  From traditional garden shop offerings such as birdhouses, statuary and gardening tools, wind chimes, accents, and accessories, to candles and candle holders, ornaments, journals and address books, earrings, necklaces, bird nightlights and sun catchers, jewelry boxes, glassware and fine décor, we represent the  original works of more than 50 global and local fair trade artisans, each personally selected and researched by us.  We are also proud to offer our own exclusive line of River Queene ethereal jewelry and our own handmade dried floral wreaths, preserved arrangements, dish gardens, faerie habitats, and photography.

During the growing season, we also offer fresh local and homegrown organic produce and herbs, as well as baked goods and preserves from area farms.

Whether you are seeking a quiet place to enjoy birdsong, guidance in creating the garden of your dreams, or the finest in local produce and unusual gifts—we look forward to seeing you!
